Development Boost Program

Our Mission

What is the Program

What is the Program

The mission of the Development Boost Program is to provide individualized, intensive, and evidence-informed therapy services that support children in building functional skills, increasing independence, and achieving meaningful progress within their everyday environments. Through consistent intervention, collaboration with families and educational teams, and a strong focus on carryover across settings, the program aims to empower children and the adults who support them with the tools, strategies, and confidence needed to promote long-term success.

What is the Program

This intensive therapy program is designed to deliver targeted, high-frequency intervention over a short timeframe, typically ranging from 2–4 weeks. During this period, the therapist works closely with the child to build and strengthen essential skills through consistent, individualized sessions. An additional week is included at the end of the program to collaborate with parents and/or school staff, ensuring strategies can be carried over into daily routines. Services are provided in the child’s natural environments, such as the home or school, to promote meaningful progress and functional outcomes.

How it works

Following an initial evaluation, the therapist will determine the recommended treatment frequency, duration, and service location based on the child’s individual needs. Program frequency typically ranges from 2–4 hours per day; however, some children may require more intensive scheduling of 4 or more hours per day depending on therapeutic goals, level of support needed, and service location. Program length is also individualized and is generally recommended for 2–4 weeks, though additional weeks may be advised when clinically appropriate to support optimal progress and outcomes.

What setting does this program take place

Services are provided in the child’s natural environments to support meaningful participation and functional skill development. Depending on the child’s individual needs and program goals, sessions may take place in the home, school, or a combination of both settings. Providing therapy within familiar daily environments allows the therapist to target skills in real-life situations, collaborate directly with caregivers and educational staff, and promote carryover of strategies across routines and activities.

How can my child benefit

The Development Boost Program is designed to provide intensive, consistent support to help children build skills more effectively and achieve meaningful progress in their daily environments.

  • Emotional Regulation: If a child struggles with emotional regulation at home or school, the therapist will work directly with the child each day to develop and practice regulation strategies, coping skills, and functional responses within real-life situations.

  • Reflex Integration: For children working on reflex integration, daily practice is often recommended for optimal progress; however, maintaining these activities consistently can be overwhelming for families. This program provides the benefit of a therapist implementing these strategies and exercises each day to ensure consistency and support progress.

  • Fine Motor: Children with fine motor concerns may also benefit from the intensive frequency of services, as research supports that consistent, repetitive practice can help children develop skills and reach developmental milestones more efficiently.

  • Self Cares: Children working on self-care skills such as dressing, feeding, or hygiene routines often make faster progress when these skills are practiced consistently and repeatedly with therapeutic support. The intensive nature of the program allows the therapist to provide frequent opportunities for guided practice, helping improve independence, confidence, and functional participation in daily activities.

  • Family and/or Education Staff Carryover: Additionally, the program places a strong emphasis on carryover with family members and educational staff, as this important component is often missing or not provided to this extent in many therapy programs. Families and school teams are frequently provided with recommendations but may not feel fully confident implementing strategies consistently within daily routines. During the final week of the program, the therapist works closely with parents and/or school staff through direct education, coaching, modeling, and hands-on support to ensure they feel comfortable, confident, and prepared to continue supporting the child’s progress across environments. This collaborative approach helps create consistency between therapy sessions, home, and school, leading to improved long-term outcomes and greater success with skill generalization.
