Occupational Therapy services cover a wide range of skills. You might consider occupational therapy for your child if you notice they struggle with everyday skills compared to peers, become easily frustrated with tasks, or avoid activities that involve using their hands or body. Common signs can include difficulty holding a crayon or pencil, trouble with buttons or zippers, challenges with feeding or trying new textures, frequent meltdowns during transitions, poor balance or coordination, or difficulty sitting and attending to tasks. If daily routines like getting dressed, mealtimes, play, or schoolwork feel stressful for your child or for you as a parent, occupational therapy can help support skill development, confidence, and independence in a way that feels fun and achievable for your child.
At Uniquely You Therapy, we are committed to providing high-quality, individualized care in the settings where your child needs support the most. This may include your child’s school or daycare, in your home, or out in the community. We come to you to make therapy convenient and meaningful for your family. Telehealth services are also available when appropriate and may be a helpful option depending on your child’s needs and your family’s preferences.
We use play-based, evidence-informed interventions tailored to each child’s unique needs, strengths, and goals. Therapy may include activities to support fine motor skills (grasping, cutting, handwriting readiness), sensory processing and regulation, self-care skills (feeding, dressing, toileting), visual-motor integration, coordination and motor planning, and emotional regulation. When appropriate, we also incorporate therapeutic listening and reflex integration strategies as part of a comprehensive, individualized plan of care. We provide parent coaching and simple strategies you can use at home, school, and in the community to support carryover and real-life success. Our approach is child-led, engaging, and designed to build confidence and independence in everyday routines.
